History of Coorg: This beautiful place started getting significance back in the 2nd and 6th century. During this span, Northern part of Coorg was ruled by the Kadambas from Goa and has witnessed the terrible war, in the 11th century, which was fought between Kadambas and Gangas. In next few centuries, the place was ruled by several dynasties like Hoysalas, the Cholas and also the Vijayanagara Empire. When India got freedom from Britishers this place Kodagu was declared as district and became a vital part of state Karnataka.

Namdroling Monastery (Kushalnagar)
This temple is also famous with the name of Golden temple. This magnificent temple is a holy place for Buddhist. When you will go inside this temple, you will see group prayer on the rhythm of drumbeats. Several people reading books inside this temple and sitting along and admiring the holy place. You can pray here for a while and takes pictures.

Best time to visit: You can visit this monastery throughout the year but the Tibetan New year (Losar) which usually occurs in the month of February or March, is the best time to visit it.
This mesmerized place is at the top of the Brahmagiri hill. Being at a great height and surrounded by hills, this place provides you a scenic view, beautiful atmosphere, and a place to shoot a lot. It will gear up your mood and will fill lots of energy in you. It is said that river Kaveri originates from here. There is a kund inside the temple where people can take a holy bath, from the temple there are stairs which leads you to the top of Brahmagiri hills. The viewpoint will provide you a breathtaking view and will provide you peace.

Dubare Elephant Camp
The elephant is not only an animal, it is a symbol of Royalty and strength. This camp is a beautiful place to get in touch with natural giants. It is located 29km from Coorg(Madikeri). Actually, this is the home of Jumbo :). There are more than 10 elephants. They are trained here by the trainers. It is situated the banks of the river Cauvery in Kodagu district of Karnataka. You can find a couple of water adventurous sports. River rafting and more.

Best time to get in touch with Jumbo: The best time to visit Dubare Elephant Camp is between the months of September and March.

It is a beautiful fall, 10 Km away from Madikeri. The water is coming from 70 feet height. This fall attracts hundreds of people especially nature lovers and photographers from the country. This fall was initially called Jessy fall in the name of the daughter of first British chaplain of Coorg ‘Jessy’. The walkthrough aromatic green gardens of coffee, cardamom, and other plantations are yet another unique experience you will have.
Abbey Falls Timings & Entry Fee: Abbey Falls are open on all 7 days of the week from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The entry fees for the falls is INR 15 per person.
This place is located very close to the center of the city. Temple is very clean and peaceful. You will enjoy this divine place. This temple was built in 1820 by Lingarajendra as a dedication to Lord Shiva. If you really want to enjoy this beautiful temple then try to reach early morning because the temple gets later.
