India pride, Taj Mahal is among one of the seven wonders of the world and is one of the best places to visit in Agra, India, a masterpiece of architecture. It took almost 21 years to complete. It is said that “Ustad Ahmad Lahauri” was the architect behind this great structure. Taj Mahal is recognized by UNESCO for world heritage. Taj is well known as a symbol of love but there lies great controversies.

Let’s cover the deep story behind the Taj, it is said that it was built by  Shah Jahan in the memory of the Mumtaz Mahal, but this is not true as per various historians, it is only Hoax. Shah Jahan had 11 queens and Mumtaz Mahal was among this 11. Mumtaz Mahal died due to labor pain on birth of her 14th child and after her death, Shah Jahan married to her sister, this will surely be one reason to make us think how does the Taj then become a symbol of love. Though as per Indian history and our popular stories it is said that Shah Jahan had built Taj Mahal in the memory of Mumtaz Mahal but there is no evidence for this. There are multiple historians who claim that Taj Mahal was not built by Shah Jahan and it was there before the reign of him. He just did some restoration work to give it an Islamic look.

It is considered that Taj Mahal is a tomb of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal but it is not right. According to Famous researcher and historian, Purushottam Nagesh Oak (, who has uncovered many mysteries about Taj in his research paper. Sources say that the king had never made any place for Mumtaz when she was alive so it makes us think about the creation of any structure, as expensive as Taj Mahal, in her memory. According to Oak if Taj Mahal was built by the king and Mumtaz has Sepulcher in this then it should be mentioned in history because it was a very expensive building, but there is no such evidence of it. Oak said Taj Mahal was the property of Jaipur king but Shah Jahan had forced him to give this place to him. Oak said that the real sepulcher of Mumtaz is in burhanpur and there are no changes in it till date. According to oak after 6 months of Mumtaz death her dummy sepulcher was bought to Taj Mahal thus people had started saying Taj as Symbol of love of Shah Jahan for Mumtaz and Indian historian carries this story forward.

When Shah Jahan became the king after 2-3 year Mumtaz died due to labor pain. According to Indian history, Taj Mahal took 23 years to build. Its work was started in 1632 and Mumtaz died in 1631, which is another reason to make us think how it is possible to Sepulcher her in Taj Mahal. Oak wrote that Johan Albrecht de Mandelslo( visited Agra after 7 years of Mumtaz death and wrote “voyages and travels into the east indies” but he did not mention a single word about Taj Mahal in his book. According to Oak if 20 thousand workers worked for 22 years to complete Taj then Mandelslo must have mentioned about this great creation but it was not built by Shah Jahan so there exists no single word about Taj Mahal in his book. It was the paternal property of Jaipur king. Carbon dating also tells that Taj Mahal is at least 300 years older than Shah Jahan period. It is said that Taj Mahal is built in 1115 and it is 500 years older than Shah Jahan period. It is said that Taj Mahal was built by king parmadidev in approx 1155. According to some source, it is the Lord Shiva temple. There is a Tejo-ling, which is a symbol of Lord Shiva due to this Tejo-ling this place was called Tejo Mahal but Shah Jahan changed its name and started to call this as Taj Mahal. In Babernama Taj Mahal is also mentioned so how it could be possible that it was built by Shah Jahan. Source
