Om Namah Shivay

Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Temple at Srisailam is among one of the twelve jyotirlingas, a very popular place to be visited from Hyderabad. I went in November 2017 by road with my Volkswagen POLO and it was really an awesome trip. It was 240km from Hyderabad with not even a single porthole on road, a very smooth ride. We started up at 4:30 am from Hyderabad and reach there by 10:30 am with several stops in between.

The route from Hyderabad to Srisailam is about a four-hour journey, you will be going through Amrabad wildlife reserve area, which has the timing of 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Drive through forest region and immense greenery was so relaxing. After the forest area Srisailam – Nagarjuna wildlife reserve comes and hilly region starts, we take a stop at Srisailam dam and enjoyed our morning tea with nuts.

Then comes Pathal Ganga, a holy river in Hindu religion, taking a dip at Pathal Ganga is considered very sacred and suppose to wash off your sin. It is considered that during Mahabharatha when Bhishm was about to die then Arjuna shoot an arrow made a hole in the ground which created a fountain and thus we got the origin of Patalganga. According to the Puranas, there are three tributaries of the River Ganges; Swarg Ganga (Mandakini), Bhoo Ganga (Bhagirathi) and Pathal Ganga (Bhagvati).

It was an awesome experience to take a dip in Pathal Ganga. You will find lots of small fishes near ghats touching your hands and feet, you can experience a totally new feeling by sitting over their, so calm, surrounded by greenery and fishes.

Now we reached Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Temple, it is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and Parvati, this temple is referred to as one of the twelve Jyothirlingas of Lord Shiva and as one of the eighteen Shakti Peethas of goddess Parvati.

It is the only temple in India which is revered as both Jyotirlinga and Shaktipeeth.

The temple has numerous shrines, with those of Mallikarjuna and Bhramaramba being the most prominent. There is a long queue in the temple for darshan and extra charge if want quick darshan. There is no use to buy an extra pass because inside you will see similar condition for both queues just 15-20 minutes extra for normal one.
